Master and Commander Coffee Table Game

Sunday November 16, 2003
Front Porch Classics, makers of Dread Pirate, Tornado Tops and Old Century Baseball, has teamed with 20th Century Fox to publish a board game based on the film Master and Commander. Starring Russell Crowe, Master and Commander opened in theaters worldwide on November 14, 2003.

Front Porch's Master and Commander game is set in the Galapagos Islands, where players can hunt each other around tropical islands -- as seen in the film's explosive finale.

This is a limited edition game; only 3000 copies were produced. It sells for about $90.

According to a Front Porch press release, Russell Crowe himself is "a giant fan" and "very much enjoys" playing the game.

"Master and Commander provides suspenseful action for the family," according to the release. "Up to four players can hit the high seas and engage in terrific battles, board enemy vessels and repair ships. The unforgiving winds constantly force players to rethink strategies, so it's never the same game twice."

Basic and advanced rules are included.
