Online Card Game Saves Life
Long, who lives in Sarasota, Florida, began to feel chest pains, and her legs buckled when she tried to stand up, according to an article on ABCNews.com. She was playing Pyramids, a card game, and managed to type out a message using the game's chat feature:
"Help. I need help. Someone call my daughter."
Two other players saw the message and one, from Minneapolis, asked for her daughter's phone number, and eventually Long was able to type it out.
When medical personnel arrived, Long was conscious but unable to move. It turned out that she had a severe asthma attack.
Additional coverage is in the Clarke Times-Courier, which reports that all three women appeared on the television show Good Morning America to discuss the situation.
