Rummikub is, according to the article, produced by an Israeli company. The article indicates that more than 30 million Rummikub games have been sold around the world.
Rummikub won the Spiel des Jahres, Germany's award for Family Game of the Year, in 1980. And it's the favorite board game of a contestant in Survivor: Pearl Islands, Shawn.
