French Author Publishes Anti-Bush Card Deck

Saturday September 27, 2003
Taking a swipe at President George W. Bush and his administration, a French author has published a deck of cards modeled after the Iraq Most Wanted deck distributed to U.S. soldiers as the war in Iraq began.

The original Iraq Most Wanted deck included Saddam Hussein as the ace of spades, Qusay Hussein as the ace of clubs, and Uday Hussein as the ace of hearts. It was designed to help the soldiers learn the faces of the most dangerous individuals in Iraq.

Thierry Meyssan, the man responsible for the French deck attacking President Bush, heads the Voltaire Network, described in a CNN.com article as "a left-wing association."

This isn't the first time the Iraq cards have been parodied. About.com's Guide to Political Humor, Daniel Kurtzman, has collected links to other examples.
